How to build a Social Media Strategy?

We can not emphasize the importance of Social Media too much nowadays, you can develop a strong connection with your customers if you use social media correctly. It has been one of the most wonderful and powerful tools in media industry. Nevertheless, the challenge of social media is that it’s constantly changing. They have many different types and ways to present. You need to choose the right social media strategy for your own business and make it really work for you.

As Michael Brito said in his book:

 

Like Whole Foods, after you decide on what your content narrative is gong to be, you must then map out a strategy on how you want to execute your story across the digital ecosystem.

Like him, I am a huge fan of Whole Foods, too. I never see such an organic supermarket in China and it seems like very fresh and every employee seems happy, and also I like their social channel strategy, that is why I would rather to go there. Thus, how to build a social media strategy that you can benefit from it and achieve your goals seems quite important now.

 

There are what I think we need to consider when we build our own social media strategy:

  1. Understand: we need to set our goals and understand that. Goal setting is a staple of all social media strategies and we are supposed to decide how we want to use social media to contribute to reaching our goals.

  2. Identify: after setting our goals, we should create buyer profiles. Because it is easier to target your customers on social or any other media if we know our customer's age, income, interests, likes, dislikes and so on.

  3. Choose: there are lots of social platforms online and we need to choose the right ones for all the products that we are selling. In this moment, we can save time in the wrong place if we use the information correctly to determine which platform is best for our products.

  4. Build: last but not least, we are going to build our content strategy. Content and social media like twins, we have to use them together to reach our prospects. What's more, this content needs to match with our channels we're using.
