People always like to ask me "why you came to America?"
I can't tell the answer until I saw this report fromTwitter. https://twitter.com/guardian/status/697991983340584960
As a graduate student who came from China, I took this class because I want to know more about social media in America and figure out what is the real difference from Chinese's media to American media.
All of us know that we can not use Facebook and Twitter in China. But I need to use them daily to share, learn and then build my own social following, that's what I can not learn from other classes. After I took this class, I can not stop to asking myself "why be a journalist? why came to there to study mass communication?" For me, who study journalism in China, a death of circumstance about freedom will prove to be my Achille's heel. I don't want to be a journalist in the industry’s freedoms have reached their lowest ebb in history.
Freedom is very important – it is the most important thing – but we don’t have it in China, especially in journalism.
Therefore, I expect I can write what I want, interview who I want, publish what I write and don't waste my life.
